Hi, I'm Rose, founder of The Wee Honesty Shed in Footdee, Aberdeen.Growing up in alternative eco-communities, I've been immersed in the personal development industry since childhood, from cooking with spiritual teachers to washing dishes with yoga gurus.But it wasn't all 'shiny, happy people'. There is a real seedy underbelly to the self-help industry. Community can connect, but it can also control us.This mix of experiences turned me into a bit of an honesty nerd. My academic background in Medical Science (BSc) and Psychology (PGcert) along with training in trauma-informed care (NARM™) and Lumina Spark® Psychometrics, allows me to appreciate the physiological and psychological challenges faced by individuals when navigating the challenges of having honest conversations.In my workshops, I offer nerdy insights into the psychology of honesty. The goal is for people to leave the shed with a more nuanced understanding of truth. Practically, this means being more compassionate and understanding to themselves and others, and prioritising environments that breed trust leading to wider communal and societal benefits.Some of my favourite events have included:- Leading the first "Honest Networking" events in cooperation with Business Gateway, Aberdeen. Helping people drop the superficial facade that can often come with business environments, and utilising our psychology to make the best first impression to lead to lasting connections.- Participating in Bristol University's 2024 Leadership Conference on organisational trust. I challenged conventional wisdom by highlighting potential drawbacks of overemphasising psychological safety, including the risk of moral creep. - Facilitating pandemic-era and ongoing monthly honesty meet-ups:Starting in 2020, I've led monthly sessions that initially connected people via Zoom during isolation. These meet-ups have evolved into a continuous forum for honest communication, fostering a community of individuals committed to personal growth and authentic relationships. I loved the items and layout of the shop. Every time I turned up to work, I felt like I was in a luxury magazine! I really enjoyed my time working in retail.
