Rose Parker is a Software Engineer at Scholastic. Colleagues describe her as "I had the pleasure of being Rose's mentor during her internship at InfluxData in the summer of 2020. Despite it being the oddest year in recent memory, we were able to work and grow together remotely all summer. We worked closely with another intern and her mentor to create a new graph visualization for InfluxDB's UI. Throughout the 8 weeks of active development on the project, Rose took part in nearly all aspects of building software (not just the engineering parts). In addition to writing code and tests, she helped define product requirements, met with stakeholders, managed expectations, developed timelines, and communicated complicated technical concepts to a large (and often nontechnical) audience. I was really impressed with her growth and interpersonal skills and her communication ability. She quickly acclimated to the team and our process, and fit right in after a couple days. She stepped out of her comfort zone on several occasions, running a few of our standups and a team retro. She's a quick learner - she picked up flux, our functional query language, in a day or two, and was able to contribute to a fairly abstract codebase written by a single person who's no longer at Influx. Rose has a bright future ahead of her. She's she's intelligent, she works hard, she makes good decisions, and she's comfortable stating what she wants and getting it. A great teammate to have."
