I had a dual role in the Office of Student Health and Wellness. I was the lead Wellness Specialist for Early Childhood programs. In this capacity, I coordinated adapting the CPS school wellness policies to meet the needs of early childhood programs and support teachers and schools in implementing those policies. I was also the Physical Activity Specialist. As such, I lead efforts to increase physical activity opportunities for students throughout the school day.

As the Director of Health and Wellness, I oversaw every aspect of wellness programming at the school. Of my many tasks, here are a few highlights. I sought out and managed relationships with outside partners to deliver wellness programing. In addition I provided direct instruction to students as well as professional development to teachers around health and wellness content. I developed and maintained program schedules, calendars and communication. I designed and managed wellness program evaluation including data collection, analysis and reporting. In addition, I supervised the lunch/recess staff and was responsible for evaluating, hiring, firing and payroll. I created my role at Namaste. This experience helped me to develop my resourcefulness and my ability to wear many hats.

As the founding PE teacher, I developed and taught a comprehensive PE curriculum for grades K-1 and 6-8. I developed and administered standards based assessment as well as Fitnessgram testing. I led professional development and program evaluation for the entire PE team. I coached the Ballroom Dance team and led them to 4 grand championship titles in 5 years.
