Roseangela Mendoza is currently a 7-8 social studies teacher at Teaneck Community Charter School in Teaneck, NJ. Prior to her arrival at TCCS, Ms. Mendoza taught at The Ethical Community Charter School (TECCS) from 2011-2023 and in the West New School District from 2007-2009. Ms. Mendoza attended New Jersey City University and graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Ms. Mendoza gained experience working with different grade levels, which include 1st and 4th grade, 6-8 social studies as well as 7-8th grade Ethics. She has also served in the roles of Community Outreach & Service Learning Coordinator, Anti-bullying Specialist and middle school lead teacher. In 2014, she was appointed by her town’s mayor as a member of the Ridgefield Anti-bullying Committee. Ms. Mendoza is interested in advocating for students and families. She was an Ambassador Fellow of Advocacy for the American Association for Educators in 2019, where she learned skills and knowledge to advocate and organize, as well as become familiar with charter school policy that provide more equitable outcomes and opportunities for educators and students. During this fellowship, Ms. Mendoza was recognized as the 2019 New Jersey Public Charter School Association's Advocate of the Year. This recognition has been a tremendous honor for Ms. Mendoza. In 2020, Ms. Mendoza participated in the New Jersey Teacher Leader Policy Fellowship through JerseyCan, where she learned to engage in education policy and advocacy in New Jersey. This experience provided a great opportunity to speak with NJ legislators and other members of the education community. During her free time, Ms. Mendoza enjoys spending time with her family!
