Words matter to me. It's something that I tried to teach my high school students in seven years in the classroom, and something which inspired my first two books, The Take Back of Lincoln Junior High and Edge the Bare Garden. I didn't realize until I published my books that the real joy was getting my books into the hands of readers... but it was harder than I expected.
