Rose Ann Obenque-Ababa is a Social Worker by profession and a graduate of Mindanao State University–Marawi City. She currently serves as the Director of Program Operations at My Refuge House (MRH), an organization dedicated to helping child and young women survivors of sex trafficking and abuse in Cebu, Philippines. For the past 12 years, empowering survivors and communities has been her advocacy. This commitment led her to co-found the initiative, “iSpeak: Break the Silence. Stop the Violence,” a community prevention campaign by My Refuge House that aims to educate, equip, and empower youth, families, and communities to speak up and take action against sex trafficking, sexual abuse, gender-based violence, and other violence-related issues.She has also earned post-graduate units in Master of Arts in Guidance and Counseling at Cebu Normal University.In 2016, Rose Ann represented the Philippines at the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI)–Women’s Leadership Academy (WLA) Program, where she strengthened her leadership skills and developed networks across the ASEAN region. In 2018, she served as the Philippines’ YSEALI-WLA Country Lead, coordinating and facilitating various initiatives to address regional and national issues concerning women and gender-based violence, alongside other alumni.In 2017, Rose Ann and three of her colleagues from My Refuge House were honored with the “Changing the World” award (Texas, USA) for their impactful work in Cebu, Philippines.Rose Ann also completed the Gallup Strengths Assessment, and her top five strengths are: 1.
