"Non-specific self-association of therapeutic monoclonal antibodies and the link to the liquid-liquid equilibrium"Liquid phase behaviour of concentrated colloidal solutions is a product of non-specific protein-protein interactions. Interactions can be quantified in dilute solutions, using the second viral coefficient. During this industrially focussed project, I have used static and dynamic light scattering techniques to assess the effects of solution variables on protein-protein interactions in dilute solutions of biopharmaceutical relevance along with thermodynamic behaviour and stability of equivalent solutions at high concentration. The prospect of a "universal phase diagram" for monoclonal antibodies, in terms of second viral coefficient, has been addressed.
