I joined FiberMark, a fully integrated manufacturer and global distributor of fiber-based specialty non-wovens, as Customer Service Manager to facilitate a transition from five customer service teams to one centralized service center in western MA. Following that consolidation, I transitioned to Publishing Marketing Manager and for the remainder of my FiberMark career continued in marketing and product line management, holding various positions reporting to the Sr. VP Sales and Marketing, and to the Sr. VP R&D. With a product portfolio focused on publishing and packaging markets, I enjoyed marketing oversight in direct support of $150MM annual revenues, and had personal management responsibility for 100+ product lines. In this environment of 500+ talented colleagues, I honed my team-building abilities, technical expertise, and strategic planning. Prior to my time at FiberMark, I was a pivotal member of a small, entrepreneurial company, which designed, sourced, and sold to-the-trade textiles and wallcovering. Over the years I wore many hats: accounts payable, production coordinator, commercialization lead, product development, materials sourcing, customer service, troubleshooting, and marketing. From headquarters in the Berkshires and a showroom on Fifth Avenue, Blumenthal developed and launched a new concept: sustainable wallcovering for commercial (health care, hospitality, retail, & municipal) installations, based not on the industry standard PVC, but on an engineered cellulose web. In 2001, thanks to trade recognition (ICFF Editors Award, Interplan Silver, NeoCon Silver, Gravure Association Golden) and quadrupled sales, we caught the eye of design giant Steelcase. They acquired Blumenthal for their surfaces division and I participated in transitioning the line-of-business to new ownership.
