There was great competition for this position as, this was a internship for college and 9 other students where competing for only 4 positions. I was one of the lucky 4 who successful secured a place for their internship in Baltimore, USA. I was successful by doing a Skype interview with 2 senior Banquet managers.The Positions that I held were:•BQS- I worked in back area were we cleaned and organised the silverware and more, also we set up stations that were for the dirty silverware and plates would come to during a banquet which we would the move to the dishwasher when the station would be full.•Banquets- Before starting as a server I had to undergo training for the different services we provided to our guests, we then had to successfully pass a test on those services we provided before we entered the floor, which i was successful in doing. Such services we did was buffet style which I may have to do myself or within a team, synchronized service were each member of a team of four would drop the customer plates at the same time and finally regular service each team would have a certain amount of tables to get serviced as quick as possible. We also got the chance to make up little unique products that we would create for small meeting as something extra for the customers such as smoothies, chocolate cover strawberries and many more. •Concierge Lounge- which was on the top floor of the hotel which I work for a month serving VIP customers, I set up a buffet and re stocked fridges and clean throughout my time, I really got to know the customers on daily bases which increased my communication skills even more, since I worked up there most times by myself I had to keep myself busy and set myself tasks.Crossed Trained in HR and Reservations, working and processes on American systems.Through my time in Marriott I was nominated a number of times by guests and peers to receive service awards.
