CoCreate is a Creative Arts & Health service provider led by those with lived-experience of mental health. We specialise in facilitating creative activity to support positivemental health. We understand the benefits of, and barriers to, participation for people facing mental health challenges. Our community partnerships have included BCP Council, Bournemouth University, Dorset MIND, Social Prescribingnetworks, Wiltshire and Dorset Deaf Association, Lighthouse Poole, The LanternTrust, ArtCare, Dorset Blind Association.Since 2021, we’ve developedCreate:Connect - short courses supporting mental health recovery and promotingwellbeing. Courses focus on developing creative skills, self-expression, enjoymentand relaxation; building confidence and social connectedness. Our retention rateis high, feedback is overwhelmingly positive and we are frequently over-subscribed. Short courses are complemented by longer-term opportunities;supporting people to stay well and build confidence through continuedengagement. In 2023 a group of participants from our 2022-23 theatre /storytelling workshops went on to participate independently in a community playand an international Improvisation Theatre Festival. We recently delivered ‘DidNot Attend’, commissioned research by CAN and Public Health Dorset. We broughttogether participant-volunteers with lived experience to create a touring piece offorum theatre, exploring barriers to accessing healthcare.

Managing Creative Industries Hub in Boscombe. The Hub includes clean work desk space for creative people, meeting rooms, exhibition and workshop space. Plus business opportunities and support locally and throughout the Recreate EU partnership area of southern France and northern France. The Hub also has meeting rooms and a community space for hire. Activities range from meetings, training, workshops, dance classes, art exhibtions, yoga classes, life classes and much more.

Providing coordination, administration and management of equality & diversity issues across the Council and the local area.

Project Management of European Funded Arts Participation Programme. Managing a £10 million project which funds 41 organisations to deliver the programme of work. This includes monitoring, and evaluation of these projects plus responsibility for claims to Welsh Assembly Government compiling financial and monitoring information on a quarterly basis.

Arts in Health & Well-being - Implementation and development of Arts in Health & Well-being strategy for Wales, including establishing and running a number of focus groups from cross sector groups (voluntary, public and private sector). Other projects managed Communities First; Creative & Cultural Skills & Arts mark for Schools.
