Rosemina Nathoo has 20 years of experience in law, trade negotiations, international development, issues management at the senior political level, and strategic planning. She advises governments and international institutions on the design and implementation of their trade policy and law strategies. She designs and delivers executive-level training programs for government officials and trade policy practitioners in negotiations, legal drafting, trade law, and dispute settlement.Currently, she is Associate Director and International Legal Counsel at CTPL. She leads CTPL’s Trade Negotiations Skills Training Project with the UK Department for International Trade. She is a lecturer in Trade Negotiations at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA), Carleton University. She is also International Co-Trainer on the EU Arise Plus Project for Cambodia, supported by the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ). Previously, Rosemina was Research Director and Lead Trade Law Advisor, working with the UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) on a Global Affairs Canada capacity building project to advise the African Union Commission and to document the first phase of the Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) negotiations process. Rosemina has had a successful track record supporting AKDN institutions in their nascent phases including the University of Central Asia in Kyrgyzstan, Global Centre for Pluralism in Ottawa, and the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto. She also enjoyed the privilege of working on Canada’s Parliament Hill as Chief of Staff on the Intergovernmental Affairs and Labour Ministerial portfolios.
