I'm running to represent the North State in Congress because living in Redding for the past 10 years, I’ve seen how precarious many of our lives are—how many of us struggle to afford healthcare, to find living wage jobs, to get an education, and even to access clean drinking water. I’m running because I’ve seen that Doug LaMalfa, who has represented this district for more than 11 years, is doing nothing to address these issues. In fact, he typically votes against legislation that would help our communities.I’m running because for far too long, America’s abundance has flowed disproportionately to the wealthiest, the most powerful and the highly privileged. Well I say, no longer.In the opening to the U.S. Constitution, the founders called out “promote the general welfare” as a primary aim. It’s time for Congress to return to that goal. That is why I am running an anti-poverty, pro-family campaign that’s focused on bread-and-butter issues and seeks to create a community of care that unites us across differences. I'm running in pursuit of the common good.
