With over six years of experience in biosensor research and development, I am passionate about creating innovative solutions for biomarker detection and monitoring. My mission is to apply my expertise in materials science, nanotechnology, and biotechnology to develop wearable devices that can improve the health and well-being of millions of people. As the Acting Lead (Chemistry/Biosensors) at WearOptimo, I lead a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to deliver WearOptimo’s biomarker sensing platform, which is aimed at the detection and monitoring of cardiac troponin I in patients at risk of cardiac arrest. In my current role, I manage the project team, the project deliverables, and the external collaborations, while also providing technical guidance and oversight for the electrochemical aptamer-based biosensor platform. I have successfully designed, characterized, and optimized WearOptimo’s electrochemical electrodes and sensing system, using novel methods for recognition chemistry immobilization and stabilization. I have also contributed to the development of experimental methods and device prototypes, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of quality and performance. I am always eager to learn new technologies, collaborate with diverse stakeholders, and challenge myself to achieve excellence.

Phd CandidateUniversity Of South Australia Jan 2011 - Dec 2015This thesis describes the development of stimulus-responsive devices for either drug delivery or controlled display of proteins. Some synthetic polymers undergo reversible changes in their conformation upon an external stimulus such as temperature or pH change. The devices described here exploit this characteristic to control the release of therapeutics or the display of proteins. In practice, thermo- or pH-responsive polymers were used to coat materials with high drug loading capacities such as nano-porous silicon or naturally occurring porous diatom frustules. The devices were employed for controlled release of antimicrobials and chemotherapy agents upon modulation of temperature or pH. Additionally, gold nanomaterials coated with thermo-responsive polymers were developed for microwave-controlled display of proteins attached to the end of the polymer chains. Skills• Development and testing of drug delivery devices for antimicrobial delivery• Fabrication of nanostructured materials• Chemical surface modification• Surface characterisation methods and techniques• Producing responsive polymer coatings• Polymerisation techniques – ATRP, RAFT, FRP, ROP, Plasma Deposition• Thin film analytics using reflectivity/interferometric reflection spectroscopy• Microbial culture and antimicrobial susceptibility testing• Working in a PC2 environment -
