Saudi Arabia

The final and concluding expedition to the Desert Trilogy; a 1,800 km journey through the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, by foot accompanied by bedouin and camels. (Please make contact for more details). Undertaken with the objective of learning how the Saudi's are harnessing their rich cultural heritage to build a sustainable future. Scheduled end of 2024/early 2025.Part 1 of the trilogy was a crossing of the world's newest desert, The Aral Kum, recognised as probably one of the world's worst man-made environmental disasters. The expedition of 2 women with expedition carts, looked at the impact of the draining of the original Aral sea, the measures being undertaken to alleviate the impact on the environment and it's communities and their efficacy. Part II was a journey through the length of the Sinai Peninsula with the bedouin, taking a close look at the impact of climate changes on the desert people, their water sources and nomadic way of life.

Goldster is a digital platform providing cognitive support through a broad spectrum of programmes to stimulate mind and body of those over 55. On the "PPG" programme, I interview people, on a monthly basis, from the world of exploration and adventure, from the legendary names to the unsung heroes and heroines.

Kazakhstan

A first crossing from west to east of one of the world's newest deserts The Aral Kum, was an abundant inland sea, The Aral Sea, but drained of 90 percent of it's water since 1960s to nourish, primarily, the cotton crops. Considered the world's worst man-made environmental disaster, the expedition mission was to see close-up the impact of the draining upon the environment and it's communities, as well as to observe the measures being undertaken to remedy the situation and their efficacy. Accompanied for the mostpart by Pom Oliver, (excluding period of her, Pom's, evacuation through illness). This endeavour represents Part I of Rosie's Desert Trilogy.

England, United Kingdom

A joint expedition with ex polar team mate, Pom Oliver, to walk the length of the Monarch's way. A distance of some 990 km (618 miles), the journey follows the escape route of King Charles II, as he fled after defeat by Cromwell at the Battle of Worcester.

Siberia, Russia

A 'joint solo' expedition with scot Mike Laird manhauling over the frozen Siberian Lake Baikal, the oldest and deepest lake. With the team startign at opposite ends of the lake, Rosie achieved the first comprehensive crossing from and to each of the lake's farthest points from west to south, to north to east . Mike suffered multiple immersions but continued to within a couple of the end section. Undertaken to help raise funds, awarenss and initiate an affiliation in Russia for Veteran's Aid.

Oman

Leading mixed group of 4 of her desert team on short expedition through the length and breadth of the Wahiba Sands to learn desert survival skills.

Arctic Ocean

A world-breaking bid, as a woman, solo, to manhaul to the Geographic North Pole, pulling a sledge of some 90+ kilos. Rosie was honoured to once again have HM King Charles III (The Prince of Wales at that time) as Royal Patron. Despite ski-ing, climbing, clambering and swimming, the impact of climate warming was making itself very apparent on an increasingly violently shifting ice cap and, losing to the ever-quickening race against time on a frozen ocean breaking up beneath her, Rosie was compelled to leave with the pilots at her final resupply with insufficient ice coverage or safety for them to return. Rosie's record of reaching just over one degree of the Pole, has neither even been bettered by any other woman nor even approached.

Antarctica

Another record was realised with a speed-smashing journey, hauling a sledge of 120 kilos (more than double her body weight), with no resupplies for nearly 1,000 km to the Geographic south pole. Rosie undertook valuable physiological research and raised funds for Special Olympics GB. Her Royal Patron was His Majesty King Charles III (The then Prince of Wales,)

Antarctica

First British, all-women expedition to manhaul to the Geographic South Pole, Rosie was one of the 5 girls to achieve this British First, in aid of Special Olympics GB. The team were immensely proud to have HM King Charles III (the Prince of Wales at that time) as their Royal Patron.

Arctic Ocean

A celebrated 'first' for Britain as the first all-women team in the world to reach the Geographic North Pole. 20 women, formed into relay teams of 4 and guided by two heroic female guides Matty McNair and Denise Martin, and trained by cumbrian Geoff Somers, all of whom from Rosie learnt much of hte ice skills she went on to engage in her future polar expeditions. Funds raised for St John's Ambulance and Expedition Patron was Dawn French.
