Roslyn Oades is a Naarm-based artist working at the intersection of documentary, theatre and installation. Her original works have toured nationally and internationally. Alongside her arts practice, she enjoys working as a dramaturg, voice actor, audio producer and guest lecturer.ARTS PRACTICE: Roslyn is an award-winning documentary theatremaker and audio-installation artist known for her pioneering work in the field of headphone-verbatim and audio-theatre projects. Her innovative works have been commissioned by RISING Festival, Malthouse, Melbourne Festival, Sydney Festival, Belvoir, Urban Theatre Projects, Vitalstatistix, Hot House and Festival 18 on the Gold Coast. Her original works for stage include: HELLO, GOODBYE & HAPPY BIRTHDAY, I’M YOUR MAN, CREATION CREATION, IN A DEEP DARK FOREST, CUTAWAY-A PORTRAIT, AT THE HIP, STORIES OF LOVE & HATE and FAST CARS & TRACTOR ENGINES. Her audio installation projects include: CELL 26, an audio work designed for a prison cell in the Old Bendigo Gaol (Ulumbarra), SEA STORIES, an audio work designed to synchronise with sunrise over the ocean and THE NIGHTLINE, an underground club for insomniacs which utilises 46 rewired rotary telephones in an abandoned restaurant. As part of VicScreen’s Frame Doc Lab 2024 cohort, Roslyn has been developing an exciting new-media audio installation concept, working title THE ENORMOUS RADIO, in collaboration with writer/artist Sarah Walker. Roslyn's productions have toured nationally and internationally, and I'M YOUR MAN was adapted into an online interactive documentary by SBS. She received the 2019 Green Room Award for Technical Achievement in acknowledgement of her groundbreaking series of audio-theatre works. HELLO, GOODBYE & HAPPY BIRTHDAY won the 2014 Green Room Award for Best Writing/Adaptation for the Australian Stage. Her work has also been shortlisted for the NSW Premier’s Literary Award, two Helpmann Awards, two Sydney Theatre Awards and an AWGIE Award. VOICEOVERS: A voice artist & performer of many years, Roslyn is represented by EM Voices for all her voice work. As well as commercial, documentary and audiobook productions has an expertise is voicing cartoon characters and can be heard on many of Australia's best-loved animated TV series, including: BANANAS IN PYJAMAS, KITTY IS NOT A CAT, TRACEY MCBEAN, SHERAZADE THE UNTOLD STORY, ZIGBY, DOGSTAR, ZUZU & THE SUPERNUFFS, BAMBALOO, KUU KUU HARAJUKU and SEA PRINCESSES. She has also worked as a TV actor and puppeteer.
