I have many years’ experience working in the legal industry, primarily for barristers. This experience includes:• General day to day running of a barrister’s chambers, including diary management.• Liaising with solicitors (both in private practice and government) and their clients, by telephone and written communication.• Drafting various legal documents.• Legal library research and maintaining the legal library. • Preparation of service company and barristers’ personal accounts, including quarterly BAS and Income Tax Return, payroll and superannuation liabilities using the following programs:o QuickBooks Pro and QuickBooks Premier with Payroll;o SILQ;o MYOB Account Right and MYOB Essentials (cloud based); ando Bar Books (cloud based).• Assisting in the purchase of office equipment and maintaining office equipment including problems arising with computer hardware and software and installing software.• Attending to travel and accommodation arrangements (both for practice related travel and personal holidays).• Coordinating functions, both private and practice.I have also gained experience working as an Associate to the Honourable Justice McMeekin. This position was based in Brisbane. In January 2008, Justice McMeekin was relocated to the Supreme Court in Rockhampton and I chose not to continue the position in Rockhampton due to family commitments. The Associate is responsible exclusively to the Judge. The role of the Associate is to act as a personal and confidential aide to the Judge, in and out of court, in connection with the Judge’s concerns.
