Design Engineer
Current- Performs precision work to exact tolerances for R&D and/or Production Engineering.- Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock: placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock.- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.- Studies blue prints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specification or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances, sequence of operations, and set up requirements. - Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control media. - Confers with engineers, production personnel or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.- Trouble shoots machining operations on shop floor.- Interacts with all areas of operations, material management, engineering, maintenance, tool and die and quality assurance.- Experience with inspecting parts using micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, and various other inspection equipment.- Experience with machine set-ups, program edits, and working with tolerances to +/- .0001”.- Observe machines on trial runs and conducts computer simulation to ensure that programs and machinery will function properly and produce product that meet specification.
