I worked for Castle Building Services on a self employed basis as an electrician. The project I was working on was a new bus station in Hamilton, Glasgow. I was drafted in as the project was running behind schedule.My main responsibilities were inspections and testing and the installation of the fire alarm working to BS7671 (17th edition) and to strict health and safety policy’s

During the above period I decided to take a short break and travel to Australia as it was always an ambition of mine. I stayed in Melbourne and worked in general labour doing such jobs as labouring, painting and decorating and handyman jobs.This experience has proved invaluable to me as it gave me the opportunity to experience life in a different country and to meet new people from different walks of life.

During this period I worked for premier electrics as an electrician. Premier electrics specialised in shop fits. I started working in Debenhams doing upgrades in Glasgow, before moving to the new primark store in Braehead Glasgow which was being built. After working in Braehead I then worked all over the UK in various locations working in primark stores installing new window lighting.I worked with Premier Electrics as an electrician and started work on a refurbishment of a live Debenhams store in Glasgow city centre. I found this a challenge as the store was still open to customers and as a result we placed an even greater emphasis on health & safety. Once this was finished I then moved onto a brand new Premark store in Braehead Glasgow before being asked to be part of a team installing a new window bed lighting system on various locations throughout the United Kingdom.-Installation of Conduit, Tray, Basket and Ladder Rack-Wiring of lighting and power systems-Installation of Lighting and Power outlets-Installation of Till points-Installation of timed lighting system-General Maintenance-Liaising with store managers and staff, contract managers, site managers and various site operatives.

I started working here in 2006 as an apprentice electrician. During this period I also attended college at Reid Kerr College Paisley as part of my training. I worked on such projects as The Beatson cancer research facility in Glasgow, Gartnavel mental health hospital, South Lanarkshire College, The redevelopment of the St Enoch shopping centre and M&S Craigleith in Edinburgh.-I started my apprenticeship as an electrician working with Balfour Kilpatrick. I learned every aspect of my trade working on such projects as the St Enoch Centre, Marks & Spencer Craigleith, South Lanarkshire College East Kilbride, Gartnaval psychiatric unit and the new Beatson cancer research facility Glasgow. During my apprenticeship I also attended Reid Kerr College on block release.-Installation of Containment – Conduit, Tray, Basket, trunking, dado trunking and ladder rack-Wiring – steel wire armour cables, PVC single core cables, fire alarm cable, data cable-Termination of lighting and power outlets-Glanding and terminating into Distribution Boards -Inspection and Testing-Working to BS7671 – 17 edition-Liaising with site management, clients, contractors and health and safety executives -Once I qualified I was also responsible for apprentice electricians. I had to keep a watchful eye over them making sure they worked safely and making sure that way they did was correct and in line with the regulations we worked to.

During my final year at school I worked part time at Tesco as a produce assistant. Some of my duties included stock replenishment, relief cashiering, customer service and helping to maintain the Tesco brand
