The analysis team at MTCE support the design departments that make up the UK division of Multimatic, including: Motorsport Suspension, Automotive Suspension, Mechanisms, Complex Mechanisms and Vehicle SystemsOur projects range from full vehicle development of high performance road cars for global OEMs (composite tubs, suspension systems, aero components and mechanisms) to specialist low volume components (e.g. dampers for F1, WEC, GT) and high volume automotive mechanisms (hood, door and tailgate hinges)Primarily, we utilise Altair’s Hyperworks suite for pre- and post-processing and Abaqus as the solver. This allows a wide range of analyses to be explored such as linear/non-linear static, dynamic, NVH, heat-transfer, fatigue, optimisation (Optistruct). Each of these Finite Element Analyses (FEA) are supported and verified by hand calculations.

My main responsibilities included:Communication of functional and cosmetic quality issues with Assembly, BIW, Paint Shop and Supplier representatives.- Preparation of quality tools such as pareto to highlight frequently occurring faults- Daily use of a variety of Microsoft Office programs to monitor department KPI’s- Organising future and current audit vehicles - Arranging analysis (squeaks and rattles, water test, etc.) on vehicles displaying issues
