I oversaw the transition of AIC’s Canadian equity portfolio management responsibilities to 3rd party external asset manager and represented AIC and the investment activities of Aviva Canada to their independent Board of Directors, Investment Committee, and Pension Committee.I developed and executed the strategy to eliminate the Aviva Investors’ previous East Coast based fixed income operation and integrated the portfolio management and research functions into Aviva Investors North America, successfully recruiting several investment professionals to join AINA’s Des Moines / Chicago investment team.I managed, recruited and developed AINA’s public portfolio management team, which was responsible for managing approximately $25 billion of assets including investment grade, high yield, securitized, and derivative asset classes.I also led the investment integration of the previous $5 billion Aviva USA insurance and asset management business following the company’s November 2007 acquisition of the AmerUs Group. Senior Securities Analyst & Portfolio ManagerAegon 1997 - 1998The Hague, South Holland, NlI was responsible for managing and directing asset allocation for Aegon’s $1.4 billion multi asset class Bank Owned Life Insurance/Corporate Owned Life Insurance (“BOLI/COLI”) portfolios. I assisted in the development and pricing of a synthetic floating rate asset strategy, which utilized CMT and asset swaps, and was designed to meet the needs of specialized crediting rate strategies in the BOLI market.I managed a $100 billion portfolio of MBS, US treasuries, and government agencies on a total rate of return basis versus a custom Salomon MBS/Government index, and worked closely with the annuities division to help develop a short duration portfolio strategy aimed at attracting investments into the variable annuity product.I was also responsible for analyzing, trading, and monitoring $5 billion agency/non-agency collateralized mortgage obligations (CMO’s) and pass-throughs, $1.2 billion ABS, and other structured finance investments including collateralized bond obligations (CBO’s) for various Aegon affiliated accounts. -
