My role was created by Hitachi in response to JSOX requirements for a HR generalist presence in the Company. The role was national in scope and covered all the elements of HRM as well as Fleet Management and Travel Coordination. During my time there I initiated weekly Senior Management meetings to improve communication; created a strategic human resources management plan; and initiated risk assessments of the Hitachi product range.

My role covers generalist human resources over 7 sites nationally for 138 employees (previously 171), including employee/industrial relations, payroll, workers compensation & injury management, OHS&E, recruitment, performance management, and fleet management.1 direct report (1 F/T)Achievements• Initiating an HR agenda in a business that has traditionally seen payroll/human resources as an element of the Accounts Department. • Involved in retrenchments in all States maintaining standards of remuneration, substantive & procedural fairness.• Redesigned and then rolled out new performance appraisal process, including presentation to Senior Executive Committee of statistical modelling of results.• Salary review process revised, upgraded, and separated from the performance review process.• Re-established credibility of the pay office within the organisation• Established emergency evacuation system in Milperra site. • Changed Company employment contracts to reflect current legislation.• Reviewed, upgraded, and rolled-out OHS Manual including incorporation of Safe Work Method Statements and environmental management practices. • Rewrote existing, and created a suite of Company Policies then incorporated them into an employee handbook.• Actively involved in ongoing performance management of staff to ensure increased sales and profitability.

My role covered ALL elements of generalist human resources:Challenges:•Commenced Supervisors & Leading Hands in Cert I-III in Competitive Mfg during the 06/07 financial years. •Frequent IR matters due to rapid business change (new clients, new equipment/capital works, expansion of warehouse, RFID scanners linked to new WMS).•Introduced Performance Review Process.•Working with Mgt through discrimination, harassment and bullying processes. Establishing boundaries for both Management and employees in those areas as 53% of employee population is Vietnamese with only 20% able to speak English.•Installation of an OHSE Management System and oversight of onsite OHS Consultant.•Established HR management as commercially relevant to the business with the Monthly Management HR Reports. •Actively closed long-term workers comp. claims via termination or permanently modified duties.•EBA negotiations with the AMIEU (Meatworkers Union) and Production employees (completed August 2005)•EBA negotiations with the AMWU and the Maintenance employees (completed August 2005).•Established properly constituted Employee Consultative Committee with Constitution translated to Vietnamese.•Established weekly Management Hazard Review meetings tied to a Hazard Register to raise mgt safety awareness and to increase the amount of engineering control of hazardous processes in the workplace.•Direct recruitment of managers, & admin staff with savings of $73,000 over Jun 06 – Oct 06. •Using Labour Cost Analyses generated from HR Reports directly influenced getting the 06/07 Manufacturing budgets into reasonable limits.

Achievements• Chairperson of Staff Council (i.e.: Workplace Consultation Committee) during annual salary reviews, rollout of KPI driven incentive structure, and re-negotiation of EBA.• Successfully completed EBA negotiation/renewals on 31 May 2004 that were due to expire in September 2004. Wrote separate AWA for Darwin site.• Reviewed policies and procedures to integrate OH&S into the TAFE training package being written. Cert. I, II and III completed in 12 months.• HR Reporting for 10 sites - Absenteeism, Headcount, FTE, OH&S statistics (monthly).• Established, with TAFE, a National Training Program involving the creation of 3 Certificate III training packages specific to the PET business. This material is unique in the world as a complete competency based training program for the PET industry. • Claims management of Workers Comp for all the PET sites. Direct injury management and rehabilitation for the 2 largest sites.
