I have now set up a new Chartered Land Surveying practice, based in the Guildford area, working across the home counties, London, the south coast and west country. I am only a short way into this journey and continue to really enjoy all aspects of measured surveys, the people from a variety of disciplines and the responsibility of organising everything on the business side. I know when to get outside expertise in so I can concentrate on my skills.

Based in Guildford I helped set up a new Chartered Land Surveying Practise, carrying out topographical and measured building surveys primarily. We quickly became established and had numerous staff in a town centre office building, carrying out surveys all over the South East and beyond. I was heavily involved in quoting, planning, organising logistics, and the (mostly) smooth day to day running of the Guildford team. I also helped develop our use of Leica Laser Scanners, and although we never purchased one we regularly hired them. There is a lot to do to keep everything going and thanks to my partners and the great staff we had we were able to be really proud of our achievements, and reputation in the industry.

Based in London I assisted in a wide variety of survey projects, primarily measured building surveys, some very prestigious projects, and sometimes a trip out to the country. As the years passed I became more senior and ended running a team of 8 surveyors, keeping an eye on the management and staff development side whilst reporting to the business owners. I also stayed heavily involved in organising and carrying out the surveys myself, both onsite and in the office, I couldn't stay in the office all week!

Following successful completion of safety training and initial systems training, I was posted on ships and riggs in both hemispheres of the world, to manage positions of equipment in a variety of situations.
