This role was specifically realigned to lead on and drive a dedicated focus on port and harbour operations policies, processes and standards to better support the delivery of and ensure compliance with all legislative, contractual and business obligations.

To deliver on new operating contract commitments, this role was repurposed to lead and support the new department structure and become more strategic in nature. This role led of a team of eight professionals and harbour staff at 13 disparate and geographically spread ports and harbours across the North West of Scotland.

This role was part of the establishment of a new department concerned with the delivery of a safe, compliant and effective harbour operations function, taking primary lead on harbour shore, infrastructure and construction matters in relation to health, safety and the environment.

Reporting directly to the Regional Director, responsible for all aspects of the safe, compliant and efficient management of quarrying operations in terms of both daily operations and capital projects. The operation of five stone quarries, road surfacing production plants, readymix concrete plants and precast concrete plants located throughout the Western Isles and responsible for 15 permanent staff and the management of a variety of sub-contractors.

Responsible for the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of numerous civil engineering projects ranging from £1K to £2M in value, including for strict financial control, sub-contractor management and liaison with clients and consultants. Responsible for preparation, submission and review of all civil engineering and small works tenders for projects ranging from £1K to £10M. Responsible for auditing, reviewing and reporting on all matters relating to performance in Safety, Health, Environment & Quality within the civil engineering and quarrying businesses. The development and acknowledgement of internal audit methodology for use across the UK across other areas of the business.

Civil and structural design works for both infrastructure projects and private housing projects.

Site engineering and measurement surveying works on construction sites throughout the Aberdeenshire area.
