In my time at GAST Manufacturing, I was greatly challenged as a designer to educate myself, both on and off the clock, in engineering practices to excel in the role I was assigned. Through this self-education and work experience, I was able to pinpoint certain areas of my skillset that I needed to spend more time developing, such as my understanding of manufacturing and production processes.Listed below are a few of the various tasks and accomplishments I finished during my internship.• Worked on a companywide project to modernize engineering documentation.• Transitioned outdated mechanical CAD models to Solidworks and verified all critical manufacturing considerations and methodologies from the original part models. • Created a standardized process for transitioning models for use by other members of the engineering team.• Self-taught and became fluent in Solidworks Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Simulation package to predict airflow rate within various air compressor valve configurations.• Developed training materials for the future use of CFD throughout the company and trained several staff members.• Correlated flow rate changes with audible product noise using precision audio test equipment to aid in product development.

Worked in partnership with another student of the Richmond Institute for Design and Innovation (RIDI) as first set of student employees tasked with development and maintenance of the Materials and Processes library at WMU.• Created database and stocking organization of printed materials• Created labelling system with graphic design department to label and track material samples• Designed display cases for sample materials• Implemented display board that showcases students unique material findings.

• Designed a comprehensive marketing plan for Michigan Rural EMS (Emergency Medical Services).• Worked with marketing to develop brand imagery and other print materials for advertisements and outreach.• Conducted user research for analyzing EMS volunteer experience in rural Michigan and how to attract younger audiences to join in volunteering.
