Employed with a groundworks contractor dealing with various contracts up to the value of £2million each. Whilst my main job role is Quantity Surveying, I am also involved with estimating, buying, producing short, medium, and long term look ahead programmes, job analysis, cost analysis, budgeting, negotiating contracts, producing Construction Phase Health and Safety plans, creating risk assessments and method statements and negotiating final accounts.

My time working with BP has provided me with great experience on how to deal with customers and has shown me the true importance of team-work. I feel it also improved my transferable skills. In this store I am dealing with large volumes and many different types of customers. Main duties that I undertake is cash handling, stock replenishment, taking deliveries and baking for the in-store cafe.

This was a work experience placement where I worked on the M80 (Stepps to Haggs) upgrade works. I worked as an assistant to the site engineers. Being employed on this project allowed me to gain an insight into how a project of such magnitude was carried out. I feel I gained very good highway experience from doing this placement. I worked alongside experienced engineers in my time with the council, and feel that this was beneficial to my development. I learnt about the council’s cyclical maintenance program, their flood prevention schemes and about how they were trying to implement sustainable urban drainage systems.
