I completed a 16 week Summer Placement within the Engineering department of MacTaggart Scott. This followed on from the placement I completed the previous year, focusing more on applying engineering theory to projects I was involved in. Again I gained experience working in multi-disciplinary teams working with staff across all sectors of the business. I gained experience working with Finite Element Analysis software and learned how to use this tool to make engineering decisions.

I carried out a 13 week Mechanical Engineering Summer placement within the Drawing Office at MacTaggart Scott. During this time I learnt how the business functioned, from concept design through to manufacture of the product. I was involved in a number of jobs, all of which included using Creo CAD software. I created technical drawings for designs that were used to manufacture products in the workshops. I was involved in implementing a sealing solution in a piece of hydraulic renewable energy equipment. I worked alongside other engineers within MacTaggart Scott as well as communicating with engineers from external companies.
