Working within the south-east team of Colleague Technology Services team of the groups IT department, Ross` primary role is based around supporting and maintaining customers EPoS equipment within the retail, travel, and pharmacy environments of the Co-Operative Group of around 3000 stores. Ross` duties also include managing one of the stock stores within the area, ensuring it is continually stocked and audited weekly. After five months contracting for Sunwin IT Services Ross was offered a permanent role within the company after impressing with his hard-working and professional attitude, and since then he has completed various training courses including the IBM Self-checkout service course, Pharmacy Manager PMR software and CompTIA A+ course to aid in the support of Sunwin IT Services customers. Ross also frequently aids his fellow team-mates with technical and procedural queries and has trained several new members of the Engineering team and continues to help the team with his hard work and experience.

Working for the A S Watson Group, Ross supported both the Superdrug and Savers Estates. This is around 1200 stores and around 6000 Wincor Nixdorf Beetle Modular Epos units running Retalix Store Line. Ross used his wealth of Epos knowledge to bring fresh perspective to the support environment and was soon give the challenge of reducing the number of Till Hardware call to the IT Department. Ross managed to reduce the call rate by some 7% by implementing software changes to the Estates enabling the IT Helpdesk to troubleshoot and resolve more calls this will help to save the company around £17,000 PA on Engineering and Helpdesk costs. Ross also aided in the rollout of new Symbol MC3090 software upgrades and updates to the EFT software across the Estate.

Managing and maintaining a small LAN and Website for this small development and building company, Ross implemented a long-range Wireless LAN to connect the company’s two buildings, as well as updating of the company’s hardware to Windows XP and implementing network security and backup systems as well as day-to-day administration and support of the office users on the network ranging from office queries to problems with printers.
