About Ross Aitchison
Ross Aitchison is an architect with Collective Architecture, Glasgow. I have recently led the collaborative development of an intergenerational strategic plan for a '21st Century Village' for The Crichton Trust alongside a number of other projects across the South of Scotland for Local Authority, RSLs and community organisations. I have previously worked on a range of private domestic projects with other practices in both Aberdeen and Edinburgh. My career has meant that I closely understand key economic and planning policies affecting development across the breadth of Scotland. I have worked with key national, regional and local stakeholders and organisations across the country. I have been at the forefront of leading projects that are taking a multi-agency approach to sustainable change, including Scotland’s first NPF4 ready masterplan.My role and past experience has shown that I am a dynamic and collaborative team player, who works with others in an open and collegiate way to deliver the best outcomes. I listen, take balanced approaches and views and have extensive experience of communicating often complex topics and issues to a variety of stakeholder groups - from the general public to policy makers. I have experience leading workshops and engagement events with involvement ranging from local residents on street stalls to meeting key personal from local authorities and statutory public sector bodies. Outside of practice, Ross has taught on the MArch course at the University of Edinburgh with Andrea Faed, and has featured as a guest critic at the Glasgow School of Art and the University of Dundee. Ross has also been published in a number of architectural journals and has been a go-to voice for debate on national radio.
