The Search Engine Academy (SEA) is a Global Alliance of SEO Trainers that has been providing live workshop training in SEO and web marketing skills since 2002. I took my first workshop with the SEA in 2002, another in 2004, and became a certified trainer in 2011. In 2015 I became a member of the board of directors and was recently appointed Corporate President of Search Pros International, Inc., the parent company of Search Engine Academy.

Founded by myself in 2011, Rocky Mountain Search Engine Academy is a fully licensed training arm of Search Engine Academy, which is itself owned by Search Pros International, Inc., a Nevada corporation (http://www.searchengineacademy.com/about-us.aspx), and provides basic and advanced training in search engine optimization and marketing and other forms of Internet marketing. I have been active in teaching Internet marketing for more than 5 years, and partnered with the Search Engine Academy as a logical next step in increasing the scope and depth of SEO training in Colorado and Utah. I began offering SEO training in Las Vegas, one of the world's favorite destination venues (for some reason that escapes me entirely) in 2015.

The chief technology officer at Horizon Web Marketing looked a little different than at a lot of companies. Because our emphasis was on Internet marketing, a lot of the technology I focused on lives in the fuzzy world of search engine optimization. This means spending tons of time trying to keep up with Google and it's wannabes. That's a little like trying to follow an ADHD 7-year-old with a sugar rush around a shopping mall. If your eye leaves the subject for a moment...well, disaster may ensue.I managed our team of SEO, content, and social marketing specialists, engaged with clients on a daily basis, planned proactive and reactive search strategy, and was responsible for implementing our company commitment to constant learning and continuous improvement (yes, you may call it Kaizen, especially since we manage our workflow with Kanbans).

I founded FLEXISS, LLC as a part time technology company while I was still the general manager at Bicycle Parts Pacific. In fact I created FLEXISS originally to market the business software I wrote to run the company (software still in use, incredibly, as of this writing in 2015) In 2001 FLEXISS became my primary business. Over the next 10 years FLEXISS grew to 6 employees and over 100 clients, In 2012 I sold FLEXISS to a former employee, and in 2015 it was acquired by Grand Junction-Based Thin Air Media.

Bicycle Parts Pacific (BPP) was a business founded by my father Clark Barefoot in 1974 in San Diego, California. BPP (or, if you feel flippant you can call it Bippy Pippy...after all, we did!) started out as a regional distributor of bicycle parts and accessories. BPP imported much of its product selection from Europe and I acted as the purchasing manager, frequently visiting overseas suppliers and conducting business in Italian and German. In 1988 I assumed the role of general manager and oversaw the physical relocation of the company to Western Colorado. The move was part of a successful plan to reposition BPP as a national specialty distributor for a select group of imported products. In 1992 I taught myself programming in order to create a set of custom business applications to manage BPP's inventory, order entry and shipping, bill of materials processes, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger. This suite of applications was still in daily use by the current owners of the company as of this writing in 2015 (although they really do need to move on to something else, that code is now a quarter-century old!).BPP was sold in 2000 to what now is Mountain Racing Products, which still operates in Grand Junction, Colorado. My former business partner and brother Darek Barefoot is their chief suspension and design engineer to this day (this day being the first day of October 2015).
