Sr. Manager, Power Plant Operations & Systems Support Coe
2014 Highlights:>$55M saved by salvaging distressed contracts.$150K cut from "Disaster Recovery" technology capital project by integrating solutions and eliminating redundant/incompatible interfaces.>$100K cut from other technology capital projectsI was fortunate to have had a chance to build and work alongside one of the most effective and solution focused teams that I have encountered in my career. This is what set them apart: Every individual understood how each of their efforts impacted the bottom line of the organization and fit into the big picture. With the end goal in mind, they were willing to integrate with other teams and help their peers accomplish common objectives. The "Operations and Systems Support" Department contained the following groups:-Utility Scale Power Plant OperationsThe operations team's primary responsibilities included real-time monitoring and control of 3GW utility scale solar power plants, coordinating with transmission operators and off-takers, forecasting energy & availability, and supporting technicians during switching operations, all while ensuring that we were meeting all regulatory and contractual obligations. -The "Systems Support" team was designed to be the "Center of Excellence" for O&M and was dedicated to maximizing value by building and utilizing the systems and processes to help the organization scale and execute as effectively as possible. -O&M Planning/Scheduling -O&M Standards/Procedures-O&M Training/Qualifications-O&M Systems & CMMS (Maximo)-O&M Corrective Action Program-O&M Metrics/Analytics-O&M Cost ModelOriginally, each of these teams existed independently and focused on only their respective scope. I was tasked with integrating each of these separate functions and developing from scratch and implementing a "Total System Solution" for the O&M business which is outlined here:http://vimeo.com/99174511(We achieved 89% user adoption)

O&M scaled from 563 MW to 1766 MW AC (300%) and brought 13 additional power plants online. During this time our team was not only focusing on mobilization, and day to day operation of the plants, but also focusing on bringing our systems and processes up to best practice, making them scalable and reducing liabilities to the organization, all in an effort to maximize value for FSLR. The Systems Support team has decreased in size by 40% during this period due to the corporate reduction in force initiative.Team Accomplishments:• Integrated 5 distinct business units into one cohesive, effective and unified team• Development and implementation O&M Metrics & Dashboard designed to give visibility and accountability to actions which have a direct impact on the Key Value Drivers of the O&M Business• Implementation of Integrated Work Management System which is also designed to optimize our Key Value Drivers• >300% improvement in Labor Planning Effectiveness (LPE) metrics and other associated metrics.• Launched the Initial Technician Training Program• Development & Implementation of O&M Document Management System to ensure that everyone can have the right information accessible at their fingertips.
