During my time as a design engineer in Ircona I worked on multiple hardware and software projects for external client companies, which included large multi-nationals, both in-house and on-site when required. My responsibilities included systems architecture design, functional specification and documentation, circuit design, hardware bring-up/debug, test automation and DVT results analysis.

My post-doctoral research project (SPARTA) was a 2.5 year project that came about as a direct result of the work carried out for my doctorate and was funded by Enterprise Ireland. The project involved the design and implementation of a second generation custom FPGA-based distributed shared-memory hardware cluster. A small team of postdoc and postgrads worked as part of this project and my main role was the design and development of the hardware and HDL code. I also acted as project manager, ensuring all project deliverables were met on time. The project concluded successfully and several patent applications and conference papers were published during the course of it.

I was the lecturer for the SF Computer Science "Microprocessor Systems I" module in the Computer Science Dept. of Trinity College Dublin for three years. In this role I had full responsibility for the course. I updated and presented the course material, ran the lab sessions and tutorials. This role also involved setting and correcting the annual exams for the course and for the TCD foundation scholarship exams.
