Nexight Group provides strategic planning, technology roadmapping, project management, data analysis, performance measurement, communications, and partnership development services to clients in government, industry, academia, and the non-profit sectors. I help to facilitate the collaboration needed to solve problems that matter in energy, manufacturing, infrastructure, security, water, and health.

Started Nexight Group in June 2010. Notable engagements included:• Preparing “Plastics and Polymer Composites Technology Roadmap for Automotive Markets” for the American Chemistry Council’s Plastics Division• Developing greenhouse gas emissions estimates for the use of propane and other fuels in a variety of applications in residential, commercial, on-road, off-road, and agriculture applications. • Prepared an environmental scan of advanced manufacturing for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers• Preparing "Cooking For Life: Roadmap to a Billion" in support of the World LP Gas Association's Cooking For Life campaign to promote LP Gas as a clean cooking fuel for underserved populations• Working with The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society to develop a "handbook" for implementing integrated computational materials engineering (ICME) to accelerate materials and process development in the aerospace, automotive, and maritime industries• Facilitating a series of roadmapping workshops in Singapore as part of the Singapore Building Energy Efficiency Roadmap process• Launching the Computational Materials Data Network for ASM International• Leading a customized training course on energy technology roadmapping in Singapore in support of its National Innovation Challenge• Launching and managing an open innovation effort for the Propane Education & Research Council• Leading the facilitation of Carbon War Room’s Creating Climate Wealth 2011 conference• Conducting training at the International Energy Agency on energy technology roadmapping• Preparing two reports on advancing grid-scale energy storage for the U.S. Department of Energy

I led a team that delivered strategic planning, roadmapping, communications, and measurement/evaluation services to a diverse set of clients in the private and public sectors. We developed forward-looking strategies that align capabilities and resources with organizational goals and help our clients develop metrics and models to evaluate their progress in implementing these strategies. Most of our clients were R&D organizations developing new technologies in the energy and manufacturing sectors.

I built a team of 15 professionals offering technology roadmapping and technical communications services to government agencies, industry groups, international organizations, NGOs, and companies. Clients included the U.S. Department of Energy, the International Energy Agency, the Propane Education & Research Council, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the American Chemistry Council, AMIRA International, and the World LP Gas Association. While most of our work was related to energy, I also led Energetics' five-year project with the PATH Malaria Vaccine Initiative to develop a global Malaria Vaccine Technology Roadmap and the Malaria Vaccine Decision-Making Framework.

I analyzed technologies being developed by the U.S. Department of Energy to assess their potential to save energy and reduce emissions. I also contributed to energy and environmental profiles of the U.S. aluminum and steel industries and co-authored a study quantifying the theoretical minimum energy required to produce steel. During this time, I also began to prepare technology roadmaps for companies and industries, primarily in energy-intensive industries such as metals and chemicals production.

I used laser-induced fluorescent microscopy and computer-aided imaging to observe and define the relationship between relative humidity and oxygen levels in plant roots. This knowledge was to be used to optimize bioreactor designs for pharmaceutical applications and was the basis for my undergraduate honors thesis.
