Leading the IT Development, Testing, MI/BI, DBA and DevOps functions, my role is to ensure the delivery of high-quality, stable and integrated solutions. I lead technical innovation with the teams and ensure that the organisation gains maximum benefit from existing and emerging technologies. Working with the senior team, I ensure that IT strategy is aligned to business objectives and that we are able to respond to market opportunities.During my time in role, I have been responsible for:-Introduction of Change Management Process-Standardised development environments, at server and developer levels. Now in the process of automating these builds using Ansible and Vagrant.-Created a standard 'Route to Live', that removed the need for developer access production systems and allowed the operational staff to fully integrate and support releases. Now in the process of automating this with TFS and Jenkins.-Introduction of source control(TFS) and documentation systems (SharePoint) to enhance support and cross-functional working, as well as to ensure that code assets are protected within the business.-Introduction of common documents sets: Business Requirements Document->Functional Specification->Technical Specification, to ensure delivery is aligned to business needs.-Introduction of Agile development methodologies, using Kanban boards and backlogs and Scrum style bi-weekly sprints. This is prefaced by user story mapping and enhanced by the use of wire framing and prototyping where possible.-Introductions of structured training plans, online training, MSDN, workshops and code reviews to ensure that knowledge and best practice are shared within the department.-Creation of a testing functionCurrent initiatives:-Collaboration improvements using Skype for Business-Creation of automated Route to Live with key sign off points -Creation of automated check-in, unit testing and regression testing-Enhancement of development environments using VMWare and Vagrant
