Due in part to federal and military spending cuts (Sequestration), my last employer was undergoing some restructuring and decided to close their Richmond California facility where I was employed. Operations were moved to corporate headquarters. Moog is a great company that was faced with some difficult decisions. The closure made available some very smart, talented and hard working people. Over the years I have developed many skills and worked on a variety of project types. Moog Inc. is a worldwide designer, manufacturer, and integrator of precision motion control products and systems. Moog’s high-performance systems control military and commercial aircraft, satellites and space vehicles, launch vehicles, missiles, industrial machinery, wind energy, marine applications, and medical equipment. The Richmond California division specialized in Semiconductor Wafer-Handling (Robots) & Precision Motion Control applications.Responsible for the overall day to day operations and improvement of engineering related processes and workflows. Supervised designers in the development of industrial control panels. Improvements included: * Developed and implemented processes that improved project estimating, time tracking, interdepartmental communications, data sharing, and reporting component failures. * Developed processes and workflows that enabled rapid configuration and change orders of customizable robots, which greatly reduced quotation turnaround time and eliminated configuration errors.* Identified and implemented electrical design software that reduced design time and cost by 50%, increased productivity, eliminated errors, and provided better and consistent documentation.* Implemented process to record post-project lessons learned and best practices which helped increase profits, reduce project completion time, and minimize future mistakes. * Led major document control effort to port all site-specific files and documents to corporate formats, structures, and software applications. Responsibilities as Design Manager increased to include Document Control, Configuration Management and Engineering Change Orders. * Implemented a Product Data Management software program that allowed tight controls on released engineering files and documents, saving tens of thousands of dollars on material discrepancies and cutting scrap and rework by eliminating document/drawing discrepancies.* Played key role in the implementation of a new ERP system and creation of a new part numbering/Bill of Materials (BOM) structuring scheme that allowed the company to better manage resources and materials. * Led a team in the development of a Configurator software program that allowed intuitive creation of Multi-Axis Servo Controller hardware permutations and software options.
