Ross Wilkinson is a Human Factors Research Scientist at Google. He is an expert in conducting human-subject research, including scientific protocol design and application, data processing, statistical analysis, generating technical reports and peer-reviewed publications, and presenting scientific findings to a broad audience.Ross has 2 years of post-doctoral research experience on the biomechanics and physiology of human locomotion. He also has 2 years of experience as a scientific advisor to Specialized Bicycle Components Inc., predominantly to the Applied Technology and Equipment Teams.Ross holds a Ph.D. in the neuromechanics and energetics of bicycling. He has published five peer-reviewed, first-author journal articles. He has also mentored 18 graduate and undergraduate students from around the world. Ross has teaching experience in biomechanics, motor control, physiology, and research methodology.Ross has a broad range of scientific interests and experience, including, but not limited to, the biomechanics and physiology of human and animal locomotion. Specifically, he is interested in:- How the exchange of mechanical energy between muscle, tendon, and body segments influence the production of mechanical power and consumption of metabolic energy during human locomotion.- Understanding the neuromechanical interaction between humans and wearables to create new products and technologies that can augment human performance and make movement more accessible to people with musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.Ross is passionate about using his research to make a positive impact on the world. He is excited to be working at Google, where he has the opportunity to use his skills and knowledge to help people in new and innovative ways.In his spare time, Ross enjoys cycling, hiking, and spending time with his family. He is also an avid reader and enjoys learning about new topics.
