While at Novartis I had hands on experience with over 300 servers of different makes and models. We have over 600 servers in our data center, and off site locations. My primary tasks were advanced server inventory, and configuring network connections for the system management ports of servers.As a contractor for Novartis primary responsibilities included the physical maintenance of the servers in the data center as well as maintaining the backup system used by Novartis to secure data daily, and weekly. In depth experience with working side by side with the data center manager on cabling, organization, networking, wiring, and other data center maintenance duties.I also worked in conjunction with the Markley Group (owner of 1 Summer street, the Data Center location) as a tour guide providing details, and information on our liquid cooled cluster cabinets, during these tours I met the C.F.O for the city of Boston, and representatives of Harvard and Tufts Universities as well as Executives from Fidelity Investments and many other corporations, and Universities ranging from technology to finance. My team worked on call rotation for 24X7 support of escalated problem resolution.

As an IT intern on the server operations team under the information systems department at John Hancock, I gained experience in major data center environments working in conjunction with users, and other groups involving server operations (storage, desktop ect.) Here I prioritized server inventory, and learned the basics of data center server maintenance. Honed my organizational skills, taking on tasks reorganizing the actual number of onsite server’s included in John Hancock head quarter’s data center. Also supported daily operations environment using service center incident and request queue for more than one thousand servers.
