Awarded both the Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship and the ARAMEX-GWU Fellowship in Amman, Jordan to pursue intensive language training at the highest advanced Arabic level. The combined grants provide 220-plus classroom contact hours of Arabic and covered housing and living expenses in Amman. I used the Sijal Institute as a host institution.

Held weekly office hours to aid students in their writing and comprehension of course materials.

Awarded the prestigious Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship in the Elliott School of International Affairs at The George Washington University for the academic years 2016-17, and re-awarded for the 2017-18 year. The FLAS Fellowship is a competitive federal grant from the Department of Education that provides full tuition and a stipend to further language study and area/international studies.

▪ Awarded highest grant ($20,000) as a Boren Scholar, an initiative of the National Security Education Program, that provides funding to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests. Boren Scholars represent a vital pool of highly motivated individuals who wish to work in the federal national security arena. ▪ I used two host institutions to study Arabic via the Boren Scholarship. The first was in Amman, Jordan at Qasid Arabic Institute where I completed Qasid MSA levels five of five. The second was in Irbid, Jordan at the University of Yarmouk where I designed an intensive Arabic study (120-hours) concentrating on Arabic media analysis and spoken Jordanian Arabic. I also attended university-level courses (taught in Arabic) focusing on international relations and conflict analysis and resolution.

Awarded Critical Language Scholarship in Amman, Jordan for summer 2015. This immersion program funded by the Department of State is designed to provide opportunities for students to master critical languages and build relationships between the peoples of the United States and the Middle East. I placed into Advanced Arabic.
