Lead Network EngineerHonda Dec 2006 - Mar 2007Torrance, Ca, UsA consulting role where I was brought in to support the entire Cisco network infrastructure for Honda UK after their lead network engineer had left.On a daily basis this involved fault finding within the network and keeping the 5000 users connected to it up and running. There were 3 major sites to support and numerous satellite sites to keep connected via ISDN or the MPLS cloud.In addition to the on going support of the network I also initiated the project to replace the expensive MPLS network provider with a a VPN solution and less expensive leased lines. -

Consistently working on one client problem, and then having to work on a completely different client 15 minutes later, which is a rare opportunity in the server support arena and gives you a great insight into all problems that can been seen with certain technologies.

Race Team Ict AnalystMclaren Jun 2004 - Aug 2005Woking, Surrey, GbResponsible for all aspects of IT on the McLaren F1 Race Team.I travelled with the team to every location on the Formula 1 race calendar and delivered the IT systems required for the race weekend. This involved designing the rugged systems required for the harsh garage environements, deploying the servers and infrastructure into the garage, supporting all race engineers and servers during the race weekend and bringing the servers back to Woking afterwards.I was the only IT personell track side and as such learnt how to work under massive pressure and to be extremely creative in my problem solving.The technologies that I looked after were:Windows Server (2000/2003)SQL (2000/2005)Various custom McLaren applicationsCisco VPNCisco Networking (Switching & Routing - Copper & Fabric)WAN Optimisation EquipmentVOIPDesktop support of Windows XPDuring my time on the race team, I built (using Delphi) a solution which allows the robust file copy (via MSMQ) of car telemetry data files back to the head office automatically during race sessions. This is still used today (Jan 2010).In addition to my support duties, I was also ran car telemetry for Pedro De La Rosa and Alex Wurz during their 3rd car testing sessions in the 2005 season. -
