It was up to me to educate these individuals and explain how I could help them and why they should trust me, all while assessing their immediate needs and referring them to the correct services. When I was not advocating for my clients I was educating the community on the signs of abuse, both domestic and child abuse. I also developed a curriculum that was well received in our community schools to educate teens and preteens on healthy relationships, the warning signs of teen dating violence, bystander intervention and being able to set boundaries. I also created and maintained a group for young women where we talked about relationships, body image, confidence, and many other life skills. To bring awareness of the situation to the community I organized a fashion show highlighting teens in our community.
