Because of this, I think we get a deeper insight than most businesses into what's happening in the economy. I love this breadth and it suits my personality. I use my extensive knowledge of financial markets and skills in research to develop new products & services at the cutting edge. I enjoy creating new models with my team that can obtain new insights into risk & return, how the economy and financial system works, and how people make decisions under uncertainty. To make something useful, it needs to be pretty to look at and easy to understand - it's about enabling data driven decision making.I work in a varied number of fields from quantitative modelling to global macro, market risk, systemic risk, and behavioural finance. I'm the architect of many of the models we use, and I help to develop these further with my team and academic colleagues. I also provide portfolio analysis, strategy and management for some of our clients. This is reflected in the narrative and development of the early warning risk system and its reports, also in our multi-asset quantitative process, having built these from the bottom-up over several years using advanced machine learning methods and automation processes.It is an exciting company to work for that is growing fast and has great people and culture. • Having perceived a gap in the services that we offered, I became the first CF27 qualified person in Money Wise in order that we could be the first to offer a discretionary investment management service to our clients.• I developed the investment process myself and ran £150m on a discretionary basis and £150m on an advisory basis. This contributed a significant proportion to the revenue and profit of MW.• I take an enlightened approach to modern portfolio theory: disregarding EMH, incorporating behavioural finance and using the latest tools to manage retail portfolios.• The process was macro driven, feeding in to asset allocation and investment/business cycle analysis. I focused on absolute returns, relative returns & volatility management. The aim being consistency of returns to clients over the cycle and more stable revenue streams. • I managed 5 discretionary portfolios for different client risk/return profiles, a smaller number of bespoke portfolios and advisory model portfolios.• Bi-weekly asset allocation & portfolio review meetings with the investment committee, I also presented at the quarterly meetings for whole company• Multi-asset fund research, mainly in collective investments: macro/quantitative/qualitative/technical analysis• Meeting fund managers, conference calls, attending seminars etc.• Providing advisers with performance analysis, factsheets, investment blog etc.• Providing clients with a quarterly newsletter and contributing articles to the Money Wise newsletter.• Providing the investment committee with near daily information regarding markets, performance, portfolio attribution and risk assessments . • Non-client facing role, with occasional joint client meetings with advisers.• I have appeared many times in the media writing articles, and also was one of Citywire’s Top 10 Rising Stars in August 2010
