Working for another fantastic Australian shoe family I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of running one of their newly acquired shoe divisions. Over my journey with the company I had the privilege of establishing the international wholesale arm of the business. Working for the Munro family taught me the lesson of never being scared to take on something new, big and challenging - take the leap of faith and work out how to do it along the way.

  • The Iconic
    Head Of Footwear
    The Iconic Feb 2014 - May 2015
    Sydney, Nsw, Au
Managed both the vertical and branded teams to create the best footwear assortment in Australia & NZ.What an opportunity. I still remember my first day coming to work at The Iconic (which had only just launched a couple of months prior). My desk was a trestle table with wires hanging from the roof and all around the floor. I had a team of international IT rockstars, speaking in all types of languages, who were next to me. The warehouse of product was behind the receptionist and every day sales kept growing, growing and growing. I watched a start-up turn into one of Australia's best online fashion companies. Looking back my fondest time was working with the company's first CEO who taught me to know the numbers and to never stop pushing. Acquiring some of the best fashion brands and convincing some really traditional brands that online was where the action was going to be was very fulfilling.

  • Shoes Online Enterprises
    National Sales & Product Manager
    Shoes Online Enterprises 2005 - 2012
National Sales Manager for Therapy Shoes.Product Developer for men's footwear department. This was wear I learnt the shoe business. I had a fantastic mentor who taught me the ins and outs of the shoe business - product development, trend analysis, factory visits, wholesale and how to enjoy yourself in the process. Working with some of Australia's best retailers and developing their shoe brands it gave me the lesson - you are only as good as your last shoe.
  • Roy
    Assistant Store Manager
    Roy Feb 2005 - Sep 2005
Working for one of the coolest denim brands at the time, I was the Assistant Store Manager at the GPO location. Working in one of Melbourne's most historic buildings (now converted into a H&M store) I particularly enjoyed Thursday night trade and heading out for post work drinks.
  • Calibre Clothing
    Sales Assistant
    Calibre Clothing Jan 2004 - Jan 2005
    Au
Working across multiple locations this was my first taste of fashion retail. Learning how to sell men's suiting and updating my wardrobe in the process was a great bonus! Calibre was a fantastic place to work with great training and some unbelievably great sales people.
  • Sunglass Hut
    Sales Assistant
    Sunglass Hut Mar 2003 - Jan 2004
    Milano, Italia, It
My first sales role. Still remember having to sell a pen in the interview. Sunglass Hut was my first retail role and the company had a fantastic in-store training program. I was based in the hut at Highpoint Shopping Centre and loved the fast paced environment. I still remember my biggest mistake in this role - selling a pair of polarized lenses to a pilot. I knew, based on the training, that this type of lens was not to be sold to pilots because they can't read their equipment in the cockpit. It taught me a great lesson in selling - always ask questions and establish a need for the product.
  • Ab Tennis Coaching
    Tennis Coach
Ab Tennis Coaching Jul 1998 - Dec 2003
Having been coached by one of the best tennis coaches in my district throughout my junior career, I was asked to help out by Head Coach, Anthony Burke. I loved this role because it was my first role interacting with both kids and adults. It gave me the opportunity to learn the art of teaching, presenting to a class of people and managing the flow of the lesson. Being able to do all of this out in the sun and remaining healthy during my university studies was an added bonus. Biggest lesson - the key to presentation is in the preparation.
  • Beans Cafe
    Chief Barista Officer
    Beans Cafe Jan 2002 - Nov 2003
Working for my local cafe, I learnt the art of how to make a great coffee. Did you know that some customers can be very particular about the type of milk they consume, and the temperature a coffee should be served at? While I loved learning the ins and outs of running a small cafe, I had to get out of this role because I was eating more than I was making coffee!
  • Tennis Australia
    Rockstar Program Sales Person
    Tennis Australia Jan 1999 - Jan 1999
    Melbourne, Victoria, Au
Selling programs to thousands of people as they enter the grounds of the Australian Open and watching some of the greatest players to play the game walk past you. As a tennis player and fan, this was a dream job. Trying to capture people's attention in a split moment as they enter the arena was a great learning experience. You need to be different to make an impression.
  • Leake Street Pharmacy
    Drug Delivery Boy
Leake Street Pharmacy Jul 1995 - Jan 1996
My first job. I was so proud to get this role. It was an after school role where I would come into my local pharmacy and vacuum the floors, wipe down the benches, empty the bins and then deliver prescription drugs to the elderly community on my BMX bike. It taught me the value of a dollar. There were times I didn't want to go, I didn't want to clean the shop floor... but if I wanted to buy those basketball cards my friends had, then this was the means to do it.
