About Ross Valdez
Passionate about community organizing, consensus building, and health equity, my career journey began with exposure to the Olympic and Paralympic movement, where I collaborated with over 40 sport federations at the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC). This experience honed my skills in meticulous planning, attention to detail, and navigating diverse cultures, histories, and ambitions.Transitioning from sports, I delved into community work with a focus on health equity. As a Community Outreach Manager at a public health organization, I closely engaged with underserved populations, particularly the Latinx and Spanish-speaking communities. Leading a team, I facilitated access to public benefits, providing crucial support amidst bureaucratic challenges. Concurrently, I managed advocacy groups, addressing systemic issues exacerbated by the pandemic.Motivated to contribute to a more resilient community response, I joined the City of Montrose as a Community Engagement Specialist. In this role, I immersed myself in municipal policies, collaborated with residents and nonprofits, and served on boards and state commissions, prioritizing health equity issues. This experience led me to my current position as the Commercial Account and Relationship Manager at Impact Development Fund.In my current role, I collaborate with partners across Colorado and other states to produce and preserve affordable housing opportunities. My commitment to community well-being, paired with a comprehensive understanding of municipal processes, has positioned me as a valuable asset in addressing pressing social challenges. If my story resonates with you and you feel our values align, let's connect!
