Horizon is pushing the boundaries of healthcare technology and new product concepts to extend Olive’s capabilities. Horizon is focused on exploration and experimentation through agile and rapid delivery of proof of concept solutions. The team is exploring diverse concepts from transformative healthcare devices to applied machine learning.

Helped to transition Olive from previous products to what we know Olive to be today. Initial focus was on building out our RPA tooling capability that is a foundational element of our AIaaS platform.Unlike many RPA tools out there, Olive's RPA capabilities are Node.js based which allows us to be cross-platform and allow for easy injection of Javascript code for data manipulation, etc.In this role, led teams that built out the initial versions of our tooling while delivering on customer automation projects.

Chief Engineer* Handled the organization of the Chiefs Engineering Program after it was instituted by our CEO, Sean Lane. * Chiefs are the core Engineering group that ratifies any new technology adoptions and is a resource of technical counsel to senior leadership at CrossChx.Blue Matter Team CaptainBlue Matter focuses on data capabilities including data streaming, data processing and machine learning. During the time leading this team, I was involved in the design and implementation of a few projects including:Spark Clusters on AWS EMR* Worked closely with the EMR team at AWS to be one of the first healthcare companies to make use of secured Spark clusters on EMR. * Allowed for on demand Spark clusters and was a catalyst for implementing data warehousing on S3 and introduce Apache Zeppelin for general data analysis.Identity Graph* To support our new global application infrastructure, we implemented a new identity resolution system using EMR Spark which supported resolving many data sets beyond the traditional medical records as done in previous version.* Allowed for fast searching of the data by the new applications replacing the legacy SafeChx system.Application Metrics* Our team developed an application metrics system based on InfluxDB and Grafana, which enabled engineers to see how their systems are operating in real-time. * System helped the engineering teams in becoming more proactive to system issues.Data Streaming* To centralize our data ingestion and distribution process, we introduced Apache NiFi. * Kafka was introduced to support the advancing data streaming requirements across Engineering.

Highly Scalable Biometrics EngineDesigned and built a scalable biometrics engine for the purpose of global patient identification.Designed to automatically scale both horizontally and vertically as we increased from 100,000 biometric templates in 2014 to almost 3 million in 2017. Able to consistently execute a fingerprint identification in less than 3 seconds, regardless of the number of biometric templates in our system or the amount of current load. Previously for 100,000 templates, identification times were well above 10 seconds.Spark Clustering for Identity ResolutionBuilt an identity resolution service, backed by Spark, that supports our legacy SafeChx application.The service today continues to resolve close to 70 million medical records in approximately 45 minutes.

* Handle all business aspects encompassing finances, day to day operations and customer relations in addition to sharing in development.* Manage all client work including gathering customer requirements, negotiating project contracts, developing project plan and ensuring all deliverables are completed on time and on budget.* Engaged with a new non-profit startup, Give Besa (www.givebesa.org), to bring their company concept to market after several years of planning. Work included project management and development of site platform in CakePHP.

* Lead architect and developer for all OpenCms (Java) and SharePoint (C#) projects. The OpenCms platform serves 25+ public sites including but not limited to www.dispatch.com, www.10tv.com, www.971thefan.com and www.columbusalive.com.* Architected and developed the backend API system for the Sifted iOS App (www.siftedapp.com). The API was developed using Node.js and Mongo DB. It was deployed to Amazon's Elastic Beanstalk which allows for easy scaling of the API dependent upon traffic load.* Designed and built the online premium content system for the Columbus Dispatch handling upwards of 1,000,000 daily page views on www.dispatch.com, buckeyextra.com and bluejacketsxtra.com. To make the system scalable, Lua code was written to run directly on the Nginx web server infrastructure thus bypassing our application servers all together. Amazon SimpleDB was also used in this system for its speed gains and scalability over a traditional RDS.* Developed internal company mobile applications for iOS and Android using Xamarin.

* Implemented and launched a SharePoint 2010 platform that supports daily operations for over 1,200 employees.* Performed in-depth analysis and automated migration of critical enterprise data for the launch of a new web platform serving several million daily page views.* Architected an enterprise wide help desk and knowledge base solution that improved overall customer experience whileconsolidating disjointed support systems.* Handle project management of all internal application development in addition to training end users and developers on the applications and development platforms.

* Designed, built and maintained various internal applications that supported business and on-air production needs including systems for automated video transcoding, automated live video streaming, hardware asset tracking, and schedule management of satellite feeds for on-air programming.* Developed automated on-air systems that delivered vital information to millions of viewers across Ohio including, but not limited to, severe weather alerts, school closing announcements and election results.* Planned and implemented the station’s gigabit network upgrade including installation of approximately $300,000 in equipment and rewiring of over 1,000 network connections.
