Binnen het Joint Informatievoorziening Commando (JIVC) van het Commando Materieel en IT (COMMIT) levert de afdeling Generieke IT en Infrastructuur de Infrastructuur en Generieke Services voor het Ministerie van Defensie.

Binnen de afdeling Generieke IT en Infrastructuur van het Ministerie van Defensie is de sectie IT Toepassingen verantwoordelijk voor het ontwikkelen, instandhouden en afbouwen van applicaties en databases. Dit betreft ERP (SAP, Peoplesoft), Applicaties (technisch beheer van ongeveer 400 maatwerk applicaties), Webhosting en Documentaire Informatie Voorziening (internet / hosting) IBM Filenet Hosting, Databases (SQL, Oracle), Applicatiescripting, Exchange omgeving ,generieke koppelvlakken (defensie), Cognos. Ook verzorgen we koppelingen tussen applicaties en databases, webhostingproducten, Enterprise-hosting,messagingproducten en gestandaardiseerde werkplekverschijningsvormen. De Sectie bestaat uit circa 200 FTE en vormt een onderdeel van de dienstverleningsketen aan de klanten door het instandhouden van de huidige applicaties en te anticiperen op de toekomst. Dit in nauw overleg met de klanten en overige dienstverleners. Het sectiehoofd is operationeel en tactisch verantwoordelijk voor het cluster meer specifiek: - geeft leiding aan de sectie, directe aansturing van 8 FTE- voert HR beleid binnen de sectie uit- verantwoordelijk voor de bedrijfsvoering binnen de sectie- participeert in het management team van de afdeling- borgt de inzet van hosting services als onderdeel van de dienstverleningsketen

Binnen de afdeling Infrastructuur en Services van het Ministerie van Defensie is het cluster Application Hosting verantwoordelijk voor het ontwikkelen, instandhouden en afbouwen van applicaties en databases.
