Rounak Muthiyan is a Managing Consultant at Berkeley Research Group. Mr. Muthiyan is a power systems engineer with deep technical expertise in production cost modeling, load flow analysis, and transmission planning. Mr. Muthiyan has designed and conducted several reliability and economic assessments studies of conventional and non-conventional generation assets. He also possesses expertise in the market operations and dispatch rules for MISO, PJM, CAISO and ERCOT. He has led wind farm siting and curtailment studies including hourly and sub-hourly modeling on impacts of large scale wind integration. Mr. Muthiyan has worked closely with market operators to evaluate the integration of large volumes of variable resources into the grid, as a part of inter-regional planning mandated by FERC Order 1000. Finally, he has performed independent studies to assess transmission cost allocation and utilization throughout the Eastern Interconnect.His modeling expertise includes Ventyx PROMOD IV production cost model and various load flow analysis software for reliability & contingency evaluation of large transmission networks. Mr. Muthiyan holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications from University of Pune and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems focus) from The George Washington University.

Business Development & Architectural design for PROMOD IV®, an integrated generation and transmission model for medium term and long term resource planning software & Energy Portfolio Management Analytics Nodal software catering towards short term generation modelling with DC power flow model. Design software products to solve business problems in the utility industry, specializing in Zonal and Nodal Market optimization using Security Constrained Unit Commitment and OPF principles on network optimization. Worked the full life cycle of implementations, including: developing implementation project plans, customer requirement specifications, test plans, training programs, and fully configuring and testing software solutions to be used in production. Worked on various client support issues to help solve business problems related to Transmission Planning, Market modeling, asset evaluations, FTR/CRR market studies. Assisted in consulting engagements related to asset evaluation, locational marginal price (LMP) forecasting, production cost budgeting, transmission analysis.
