Formerly the Graphics Director for U.S.News & World Report, I have years of design, writing, and editing experience with national clients such as Popular Science, National Geographic, Smithsonian, and Wired magazines as well as various corporate clients and organizations in verticals such as government, military, financial services, real estate, and technology, including NASA subcontractors. I also have years of graphics and information design experience with daily newspapers on both U.S. coasts.With my background in art and journalism, I'm a storyteller who uses a variety of media—from pen and ink to the industry-standard digital tools like Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects, to create compelling packages that bring together text and visuals to explain complex information with clarity and elegance. Using maps, charts, and 2D and 3D technical illustration, I've helped clients show how things work and what information looks like. Whether I'm writing and illustrating a piece on ion engines or illustrating the Navy's latest submarine, or the 400-year-old Jamestown, Virginia settlement, I develop content that communicates, enlightens and inspires action.

Collaborated with reporters and editors to create compelling visual presentations for print and the web on topics from science, finance, health and medicine, military, politics, government, and others. Researched, wrote, designed and illustrated graphics on everything from the 9-11 terror attacks to the Space Shuttle disaster to the death of Pope John Paul II. Created GIS-based maps, interactive graphics, charts and illustrations, often on tight press deadlines.

Created information graphics and illustrations accompanying Popular Science magazine's feature articles.

Created daily news graphics and illustrations. Designed and illustrated section covers. Researched, wrote, and illustrated medical, scientific, financial, historical and political subjects.

Worked with a team covering the first Gulf War, the 1992 Los Angeles riots and other stories through information graphics, maps, and other visuals. Also illustrated feature stories and served as the dedicated Community News illustrator.
