I had the pleasure of meeting Michael and his mother Ashlee in early 2023. I was drawn to their positive attitude and upbeat personality. I then learned about their struggles and the fact that Michael was diagnosed with Hepatosplenic Lymphoma in July of 2020. It is a rare form of cancer that required an extremely painful bone marrow transplant among many other procedures and has required regular infusions ever since.Before cancer, Michael was a regular, extra-cool, athletic, college kid from Miami Beach. He was part of the Olympic Development Team for Windsurfing, along with his older brother, Steven. They grew up on the ocean, surfing and even traveled the world going to windsurfing competitions. Now, because of his condition, Michael cannot even be in the sun, let alone enjoy his passion of windsurfing. Despite everything he has been through he is always smiling and is committed to sending his message of love.I then learned that Michael had lost his father (and Ashlee lost her husband) to a similar cancer two years prior. Ashlee, a single mom of 3 (amazing!) kids, Steven, Michael, and Jennifer, was an early childhood educator, teaching music and dance to the families in and around Miami. She was the creative director of Zumbini, a program she wrote for Zumba Fitness, and her life was all about her family and sharing music, dance, and joy!There came a time during his painful procedures that Michael just wanted to go to sleep and never wake up. His mother Ashlee, literally refused to let him die and pushed him to keep fighting. Michael had every reason to give up, but he kept fighting.I am on a mission to help them raise money and help them find speaker engagements. They are both natural public speakers and have an amazing story to share. They are incredible motivational speakers. If you have an event that requires a speaker, please reach out to me.
