I was a key contributor in a strategic replatforming effort for a major enterprise client that needed to rebuild a core synthetic data product from a legacy IBM mainframe process to a modern, highly automated Apache Spark Scala pipeline that ran in AWS EMR. Build times dropped from weeks or months of manual toil to hours of cost-optimized cloud compute. In the process, our team assisted the client in improving their own understanding of their data by using statistical reporting and analysis to very requirements for accuracy and consistency in the final product, significantly improving quality in the process. The product itself was a massive scale identity resolution project that computed approximately 250 million uniquely identified entities from an input dataset of greater than 50 billion datapoints, where each entity in the identity graph was characterized by upwards of 2000 individual attributes.

I designed and maintained an Apache Spark (Scala) query pipeline for natural language processing at a large scale, and managed several ETL pipelines. I built our data processing infrastructure using AWS Elastic Map Reduce, AWS Elastic Container Service, AWS S3, Apache Airflow, and Grafana.In addition, I built several web applications in Golang and Scala, wrote a series of richly interactive data visualization libraries with React and Python, and automated builds and deployments using GitLab and Jenkins, and have defined repeatable automated provisioning of applications and infrastructure with Docker, Terraform, Ansible, GitLab CI, Packer, and Vagrant.Finally, I owned the technical project management processes for our data and analytics organization, and oversaw technical planning using simple Agile methodologies and Jira.
