As Chairperson, I held a pivotal role in mobilizing associates to serve as the voice of undergraduate students regarding mental health issues. This responsibility entailed not only advocating for student interests, but also establishing connections with various mental health stakeholders across campus. By assuming leadership, I orchestrated initiatives that fostered dialogue and action, ensuring that student concerns were effectively addressed and integrated into campus-wide policies. Specifically, I took on the role of leading Mental Health Stakeholder Summit meetings, which brought together all campus mental health stakeholders to critically review existing policies and collaboratively devise new strategies that better addressed the evolving needs of students. This process identified areas for improvement and led to the development of a new Mental Health Action Plan for the 2023-2024 school year. This role demanded strategic coordination and the ability to navigate diverse perspectives, ultimately enhancing the support network available to students facing mental health challenges.

Central to my responsibilities was serving as a key liaison between various campus mental health stakeholders. A significant milestone during this tenure was co-founding and spearheading the Mental Health Stakeholder Summit meetings. These sessions brought together a comprehensive spectrum of stakeholders, including students, faculty, administrators, and mental health professionals. Through strategic facilitation and collaborative leadership, we conducted a thorough evaluation of existing mental health policies. This process identified opportunities for enhancement and enabled us to co-create innovative strategies tailored to meet the evolving needs of our student body.

Lean On Me is a student-run, chapter-based anonymous service that provides 24/7 text-based emotional support to students. During my involvement with Lean On Me, UC Berkeley chapter, I served as a peer supporter. In this role, I completed comprehensive online training and an in-person workshop, learning skills in non-advice giving support, empathic listening, and understanding common student issues. As a peer supporter, I aimed to address the barriers to mental health support on campus, such as limited resources, stigma, and accessibility issues, by providing an anonymous and non-judgmental platform for students to seek help. Also, I became well-versed in local and national mental health service to connect students to trained peers that can offer support and guide them towards additional resources if needed.

Project 180 employs a "one-stop shop" approach to providing comprehensive services for the forensic population in the criminal courts of Los Angeles, Long Beach, Compton, Lancaster, and Van Nuys. The services include intensive case management, mental health treatment, substance abuse counseling, and employment support. I work across multiple programs within the organization, however, my primary focus was on the Rapid Diversion Program (RDP), an innovative pre-plea diversion initiative aimed at individuals with mental health or substance use disorders involved in the criminal justice system. In my role, I collaborate with defense attorneys, mental health clinicians, and case managers to identify and support eligible candidates for the RDP. This includes conducting interviews within the courts, reviewing mental health histories, facilitating clinical evaluations, and linking participants to appropriate services in order to complete the RDP program. I also monitored and reported on participants' progress in the program, contributing to the overall goal of reducing incarceration rates and recidivism.

As Vice President of Health, Wellness & Accountability, I provided strategic leadership and direction for a team of 10 officers, overseeing regular department meetings to ensure cohesive execution of organizational objectives. Serving as a member of the Executive Council, Judiciary Board, and Program Council, I also played a role in shaping policies and decisions that promoted holistic health and safety within our fraternity. Central to my responsibilities was the oversight of organizational policy and procedure development, including chapter emergency procedures, bylaws, and comprehensive risk reduction strategies. I meticulously managed the department budget, conducting thorough assessments of chapter events to uphold safety standards and ensure compliance with Alpha Phi International Fraternity, Inc. rules and regulations. In recognition of the critical importance of mental health, I put forth initiatives to integrate mental wellness education and support into our organizational framework. This included enhancing resources for mental health awareness, crisis intervention, and promoting a culture of support and resilience among our members. I also oversaw the implementation of the Chapter’s Emergency Procedure Plan, implementing harm reduction strategies, managing chapter discipline, and ensuring compliance with University regulations.

During my time as a summer law clerk at Manly, Stewart & Finaldi, I gained invaluable experience working with a dedicated team representing sexually abused children and adults. My responsibilities were diverse and comprehensive, including shadowing client interviews, preparing and completing fact sheets, and attending and preparing for depositions. I also reviewed sealed court documents, managed redactions, and prepared privilege logs. Additionally, I drafted and responded to discovery requests, including FROGs (Form Interrogatories), RFAs (Requests for Admission), RFPs (Requests for Production), and SPROGs (Special Interrogatories). My legal writing duties included composing complaints, legal memos, meet and confer letters, and motions to compel responses. I also conducted extensive legal research using Westlaw to support case strategies and prepare memos. This role provided me with hands-on experience in various aspects of legal work, deepening my understanding of the legal processes involved in sexual abuse cases and reinforcing my commitment to advocating for justice for survivors.
