I’ve enjoyed my journey in business to date, learning everything I can along the way of what works and what doesn’t. Importantly, nothing in business is ‘set and forget’, and continued success involves constant refinement and evolution to suit an ever changing society and community expectations. In business, I don’t rely on ‘what I think’. I’ve always sought to back my logic and reasoning with relevant examples, studies and texts, hence my collection of qualifications as I transitioned from ‘traditional’ accounting and external audit, to computer audit and internal audit, then on to operations, marketing, strategy and management. More recently I rounded out with Chartered Secretary and AICD to support my role as Company Secretary (plus head of investor relations, legal and risk and compliance) of ASX listed gold miner St Barbara Ltd.I have always enjoyed creating new things in the work environment, such as an organisation wide internal audit or risk management framework from scratch, new policies and procedures to comply with emerging legislation, streamlined management reporting, or a completely new ESG / sustainability report. The pinnacle was creating Australia’s first national indigenous credit union.I believe strongly in the wellbeing and dignity of the individual, which applies to everyone in the workplace, as well as the people they deal with, whether customers, suppliers, regulators, or in the broader community. Fundamental to this is honesty and respect, which I believe is essential to the long-term success of an organisation.Along the way, I have led, encouraged and cajoled my various team members to be the best they can be, gain further qualifications where appropriate, and reach their potential.I am now looking to apply my skills and experience across company secretarial, finance, governance, risk, compliance and stakeholder communication to benefit a worthwhile company or organisation.
Listed skills include Internal Audit, Risk Management, Governance, Business Process Improvement, and 28 others.
